Bedrock was originally started by the legendary Simon Hobart nearly twenty years ago at Oxfords (Which would later become Metro) at 19 - 23 Oxford Street. Having moved to the Charing Cross Road Marquee, it became one of the few popular indie/alternative all-nighters to achieve legendary status with many of the soon to become famous Brit-pop bands and artists as its patrons.
After the Brit-pop explosion it went from strength to strength showcasing the best of what the ever growing scene and its music had to offer. After the death of Britpop, and the closure of the Marquee, Bedrock took a short hiatus until 2001 where it returned to its original home The Metro, where it thrived right up until Metro's closure in January 2009.
Bedrock has been responsible for starting off a great many of London's key indie/alternative DJs over the years, blending the best of cutting edge and classic alternative music in an ever changing scene. Always putting the music first, above fads and without arrogance, to one of the coolest, friendliest, most genuine and yet, unpretentious crowds in clubland.
Part of this may be down to the fact that Bedrock is one of the few indie clubs who still accept requests and actually attempt to entertain, rather than employ DJs who should stay in their bedrooms.
Now as a new chapter begins we intend to continue the good name of Bedrock at the new venue, The Borderline, in the way we always have...reliable, honest and most importantly the fun way, you have come to expect.
